Dhavamai Dhavamirinthu (தவமாய் தவமிருந்து..)

My all time favorite movie is Dhavamai Dhavamirinthu by Cheran. Wonderful movie. Even my father, loved this movie.


After my father's demise (Aged: 61)  on 4/01/2015 4:15 AM on a Pournami day during his sleep on a severe heart attack without any previous day symptoms, my whole world has changed. He was smiling the previous day. I felt life is too short and death is so easy. Feeling very lonely now and it is a huge loss for my family.

My father is as same as shown in the movie, sacrificed larger part of his life, got me a good education, placed me in a nice college, saw me with proud when i got a job in campus, was in clouds when i went for foreign trips, felt really happy when i took him for tours. He sacrificed a lot in his life for a good future for myself and my sister. After doing all this, he also doesn't want to burden us on anything. He planned his retirement life very well. Even the tours I took him was according to him, the heaviest burden he gave me. Why appa?? :( Anyways, He taught me how to live a life with virtues, with good motives, with love for others, with thoughtfulness, with hardwork. Its a biggest asset he has given me than anything else..

Everything that starts has an end, is what the world tells. But the life my father lived for my mom, sister, and myself, is a lesson that will continue in my life till my end.

Just watch the climax scene and the thirukural's.  my father taught numerous important kural's. But the kural's in the climax of this movie is the least expected in general from a father, from a son.

தந்தை மகற்காற்று நன்றி அவையத்து
முந்தி இருப்பச் செயல்.

The benefit which a father should confer on his son is to give him precedence in the assembly of the learned.

மகன்தந்தைக்கு ஆற்றும் உதவி இவன்தந்தை
என்நோற்றான் கொல் எனும் சொல்.

(So to act) that it may be said "by what great penance did his father beget him," is the benefit which a son should render to his father.  

ஈன்ற பொழுதின் பெரிதவக்கும் தன்மகனைச்
சான்றோன் எனக்கேட்ட தாய்.

The mother who hears her son called "a wise man" will rejoice more than she did at his birth. 

எழுபிறப்பும் தீயவை தீண்டா
பழிபிறங்காப் பண்புடை மக்கட் பெறின்.

The evils of the seven births shall not touch those who obtain children of a good disposition, free from vice. 

குழல் இனிது யாழ்இனிது என்பதம் மக்கள்
மழலைச்சொல் கேளா தவர்.

The pipe is sweet, the lute is sweet, say those who have not heard the prattle of their own children.
