I really started loving "MS Windows Live Writer" in such a way that I get it installed in all PC's I use. :)
Its so blogger friendly and really good. But when I initially started with my custom domain parked over Blogger service, I had some difficulty to figure out the HOWTO. Here are the steps I followed,
- In the first window you get as soon as you start "Windows Live Writer" for the first time, select I already have a weblog
- In the window "Choose Weblog Type", give Another weblog service
- In this window, fill in the following
- homepage URL, give http://ur-blog-URL/index.html
- Username: blahblah@gmail.com
- Password: Abigblahblah
- Now, your blog should have got processed and you would have got all the settings to start of posting.
Its really good to use a desktop tool to blog because you have a personal cover for all your content, a spell checker, WYSIWYG editor etc.
There was a small problem which noted is the Drafts saving. "Live Writer" never saves drafts to the blogger and If you check it in Tools->Options, You can see server doesn't support that. Might be there is no Blogger API to do that thing or Live Writer plugin might make it work.
I found that there is a patch to Live Writer which provides this option:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946058
It requires a windows update.. :(.. Might be vista will have the latest..
